Leech therapy treatment

RAKTAMOKSHANA/ BLOODLETTING THERAPY

Raktamokshana or Bloodletting therapy, is one procedure among panchakarma which aims at releasing impure blood from the system. The process involves the neutralisation of accumulated toxins through the carefully monitored removal of impure blood in limited quantities.

In Ayurveda, Raktamokhana is classified into two types, mainly Shastra visravana (use of metallic instruments like venipuncture, syringes/needles) and Anushastra visravana (use of natural methods).

LEECH THERAPY/ JALUKA VACHARANA

Leech therapy is an important method of Raktamokshana treatment, which is carried out by applying leeches to a specific infected area. It involves a blood sucking process in which impure blood is washed out in considerable quantities with the use of medicinal leeches and is effective in the treatment of various diseases.

Raktamokshana blood purification therapy is effective in the treatment of vitiated blood and pitta doshas as well as in treating conditions like skin allergies, acne, liver and spleen disorders, gout, bleeding disorders, etc.
